resources from the job search article

This is a companion to my last post, with some sources for people who would like to take a similar path. I list these because I used them personally, and recommend them.

If you’re looking for a coach, I know several whom I haven’t worked with, but who are good people you might click with.

Nautilus Coaching & Consulting (Heather Jelks)

Heather is the coach I talk about in this article. She’s been invaluable in more ways than I can describe.

Will Marre’s Save the World & Still be Home for Dinner

Marre’s book chapters started showing up in my inbox at just the right time. I recommend it.

Michael Bungay Stanier’sĀ Find Your Great Work

While this was less directly useful to me, it’s a nice series of thoughts and exercises, and I think it might be handy if you were looking to change your work and didn’t have a professional coach with you.

Tama Kieve’s This Time I Dance

Kieves is inspiring in an awesomely ordinary way. Her book appeared in my grumpiest, funkiest moment and perked me up.

Vital Journey (Eric Palmer)

Eric is career coach I worked with a bit, and his tools helped me solidify what I wanted to do. He also has a generous spirit and the peacefulness of a person who is doing exactly what they should be.

Cricketwing (Lyssa Adkins)

Her soon-to-be-printedĀ Coaching Agile Teams book (and sometimes disagreeing with her) that really connected with me in this process. Lyssa does one-on-one coaching, too

The TUT Adventurer’s Club

Sends you a little email from an optimistic universe once a day. The encouragement is really nice. I owe Eric Palmer for this suggestion.

Birth of the Chaordic Age by Dee Hock

This is more of a personal reflection of how I want to show up in the world and what companies ought to be. It includes some perspective on work that I believe more people ought to read.

Rick Tamlyn’s The Bigger Game

Like Stanier’s book, this one didn’t click for me as well, but it’s filled with things I think the world needs. Rick is another co-active coach and trainer of coaches. He’s a mind-blowingly good trainer.

Real Results Coaching (Kathy Harman)

Kathy is a corporate escapee who now does personal and team coaching. While I have not worked with her as a coach, I think she’d be a good match for someone making a career transition, especially if your goal is to get out of the corporate world.
